Who Gets the Food?

Florence Food Share, 2190 Spruce Street, in Florence

Florence Food Share is a private, non-profit, emergency food box pantry. Our mission is to alleviate hunger in West Lane County, Oregon.

We provide emergency food to low income, disabled, senior, unemployed and underemployed individuals and households in the area of Mapleton, Swisshome, Florence, and Dunes City/Westlake areas of coastal Oregon.

Food Share started out as “Manna Ministries”, a grass-roots effort to help provide emergency food to Florence area residents, in about 1980. Manna Ministries was put together by a group of churches in Florence and operated out of people’s garages and car trunks.

In 1994 Florence Food Share moved to its permanent home at 2190 Spruce Street, on land leased from the New Life Lutheran Church for $1.00 per year. The Food Share building was built with the help of grants and a local building fund drive. The building is handicapped accessible and we are open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm and Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Next Pickup Day: Saturday, February 8
